IE Active Content BugYes, thats right: it's a bug. I believe it came out with SP2. Anyway, it's IE being overly protective of what you can do on your own computer (as usual). This happens when you have a javascript in the head section of your page. Here's how it goes. You are creating a website design in your HTML editor. Sooner or later, you want to preview a page with IE. And as soon as you do, then you get the banner along the top of the page...."To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content ......" Then you have to go through the performance of allowing the content, and confirming that you really mean it. Just great, all these extra and unnecessary mouse clicks when you are making constant adjustments to your page to get everything displaying correctly. But don't worry, it's easily fixed. Open IE and follow these steps.
![]() And that's it. Apply the change, and next time you preview with IE, you won't get that annoying banner across the top of your screen. | |
