More Information on Site Redesigns

Here is how a typical redesign works.

Once we are ready to begin, I start to work on a graphic image mockup for you to take a look at. This is done in a graphics program, it is not a working webpage. However it will look just like a webpage, so you can make informed decisions regarding layout, colors, fonts etc.

How long this process takes to complete will depend on two factors:

  1. Timeliness of back and forth emails
  2. How many revisions required to get the look we are both happy with

When we have the completed image and we are both happy with it, then I begin on the actual design creation, based upon that image. Note that I said we are both happy with? I will always be aware that the site is yours, not mine. However, I cannot in good concience create something that I know is going to be bad for your site. At least not without making you fully aware of the consequences.

So if you want spinning 3D graphics, slow loading flash header, with yellow text on a black background, then it might be better to find a designer who will do that for you ;-) I'm happy to step out of the box on a website design, but not quite that much.

The actual design creation will take perhaps 4-5 days. I then check and double check all of the files before letting you know everything is ready for you. At that point, you can pay the remainder of the design fee, and I will email you the files.

You not only get the master template to use for transitioning current pages (and using as a base for new ones), I send you a pdf explaining how to use them. If you get stuck for any reason, I encourage you to contact me for help.

I will transition a few of your pages to get you started. That way you see what I have done, and can copy the process. Typical pages that I transition for you, could include contact form and thank you page, rss, privacy, about this site etc.
