If you havent read my page on the secrets of a fluid design, then perhaps give it a quick look over. It explains a little about the concept of a limited width fluid design. Here's how it works......

• 1.You choose a maximum width that you want your pages to be (eg, 1050px)
• 2.Then you decide the page width (example would be 90% of the screen)
• 3.That's it! Nothing else to do.

The Drawback To A Fixed Width Design

If you employ a fixed width page, such as used by Block builder, then you need to set it narrow enough for all screen resolutions. That means around 750px wide.

That's great on an 800x600 monitor....but now go and look at that same page on a widescreen 1680x1200px screen. 750px of webpage, and 930px of blank space. It's not a great look, although centering the page will help improve things.

How This Is Different

There is a maximum width built into the fluid design....YOU decide how far the page can expand before it becomes fixed width. It then stops expanding at that point, becomes centered, and shows your choice of background on either side of the page.

This is a totally new concept, developed by myself. Others have used different ways to try and achieve the same effect....generally with complex code, and "hacks" to get things working correctly. It has been well tested to work faultlessly and be bug free in all mainstream browsers.

YOU WILL NOT GET THIS FEATURE WITH ANY OTHER TEMPLATE, ANYWHERE!

In fact, ask some "web designers" how to achieve this, and you will most probably be told "it can't be done". You will then get a list of reasons as to why you should stick to a fixed width 750px design.

Well, it CAN be done, and the proof of that is in the new template.

Understanding How It Works

As well as the new revised template, the e-book has been updated to reflect the changes. It has been expanded from 43 pages to 63. you also get an 8 page PDF that explains the limited width.

This is recommended reading if you wish to make modifications to this part of the template. But there is no need to understand how it works, or make any changes to it if you don't want to. It can be left exactly how it is, and everything will work perfectly!
