One of the more frequently asked questions on the SBI forums is this.
"How can I make use of all that white space on the right side of my page?"

If you use block builder, there are workarounds, using positioned divs. But remember, thats exactly what they are - workarounds. The standard traditional SBI template simply hasn't been designed to be a full width, 3 column design. The SBI philosophy is simple.....and it works! Content is king! Great content = presold visitors who will be receptive to your monetization models. So a no fuss, no frills web page is what you get, and it works very well.

A full screen web page .... you look at it online and say "yeah, now THATS what I'm talkin' about!"

You can have a site like this...it's easier than you think! Take a look at this web-page View it with as many screen resolutions as you can. Start at 800x600, and work up to whatever your highest setting is. (to do this, right click on your desktop, and select "properties". Now use the "settings" tab to access the sceen resolutions option). Notice the header images expand and contract with the different monitor settings, but the header text remains stationary? Result.....a page that displays perfectly, regardless of monitor resolution, OS, or browser. The header design and horizontal navigation contains some extra code added to the template.... you can get something similar in the "template owners" section of my site (available to template owners only).

The new template version has a design feature YOU WON'T see anywhere else. This is something I had to develop for myself....there was no precedence for it. A standard web page is either fixed width, or a fluid design. This is different... it combines the best of both in a different way.

This template will appear full screen, up to a width that you specify. past that point, the page becomes centered and the surrounding background expands, NOT the main content area!

This maintains a comfortable line length at all resolutions, even the wide-screen monitors that are becoming more popular.

Some great imagination shown....a fantasic look, without distracting from the content. More sites added as I get to see them

You Won't believe How Easy It Really Is.

I joined SBI in October 2006 and found the blockbuilder an easy way of creating content for my websites. However after 9 months I decided it was time I took the training wheels off and progressed to writing my own html. There is a saying I know which goes "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear". That is just what happened. AJ came along with his templates and instructions on how to create not only a html website but CSS as well. I had to have a go. Who Is This Package Designed for?

For those that have limited experience of HTML, but want the added flexibility and the looks that ULYOH(Upload Your Own HTML)offers. if you are totally new to SBI and have never even heard of HTML, then this may not be for you. I would suggest that you start with block builder, and get your site up and running. You will have enough to learn without adding more!

But if you already have an SBI site running, or have had at least some previous website building experience (no matter how limited) then this should be easy for you! So, for the price of less than a template bought elsewhere, here's what you get.

The Template
This uses a table layout for the page structure, and stylesheets for the Look and Feel, and the navigation. The nav include is with the template, as is social bookmarking (always a sticky point to install for beginners) Why not a total CSS design?
The table layout offers great flexibility....it is very easy to modify, and will look good on any monitor size. The stylesheets are fully commented, to make them easy to modify. So you get the best of both worlds. A classy looking professional page, without having to know the first thing about css.

Some Of The More Frequently Asked Questions This is a collection of things Im asked about on a regular basis. Can I use the template on more than one site? The answer to this is yes you can. other templates generally have a license for one site only...if you have multiple websites, that becomes pretty expensive. With this one, you can use it for as many of your own sites as you wish. Am I able to use the SBI navbar? Indeed you can, and the TOC as well. I believe the navigation provided is superior, but the choice is yours to make. Some people have spread misinformation about this - claiming that the SBI nav can't be used with my template. So let me set the record straight - you certainly can do so, if that's what you prefer. What help can I get, if I get stuck? Some designers may tell you to "read the instructions", then let you get on with it. they have taken your money, and now don't want to know about your problems. Well, that's not how it works around here! I pride myself on support, and judging by the emails I get, I do a great job of it. The ebook is 64 pages, packed with easy to follow instructions. There is also a large private section of my site, devoted to helping you get the best from the template. I am also available to answer email queries. And for those that have issues with anything, there is a chat room set up on my site. Just email me to arrange a time to meet there, and we can discuss any problems you're having. You are never alone! I want a fixed width page Think you can't do that? Of course you can. Personally, I feel the fluid width is a great way to go, and with the capped width added, it's the best of both worlds. But if you really want to fix the width, then you can do so. A shame to do it however ;-) Will changing over affect my search engine rankings? Yes it probably will. They are likely to improve! many people have reported that they now get an increase in traffic, with vistors staying longer and viewing more pages. This is simply by changing over to the template. The extra visitors can be attributed to a fully optimized template....this is designed to please SE spiders, and they may well rank your pages more highly in the SERPs. Length of stay, and page views are due to a more pleasing page design. Can I use Dreamweaver/Nvu with this template? the ebook instructions have been written using Arachnophilia. All screeshots are taken using that editor. So while you can use any editor you wish, it may be more difficult to follow instructions. That said, you can of course use any editor you want, if you feel comfortable with it. Just apply a bit of common sense to the instructions, and you should be all right. I can't support other editors, but I will certainly try to help where I can, with using them. If you know the basic functions of your favorite editor (things like inserting images, links, finding and saving files etc) you will probably be OK.
